New Hanover Co. NAACP hosts ‘Souls to the Polls’ march
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) – The New Hanover County NAACP hosted a march on Sunday encouraging residents to get to the polls for early voting.
The statewide march called “Souls to the Polls” started around on Red Cross Street. Several electoral candidates participated in the march to Cape Fear Community College.
LeRon Montgomery, president of the New Hanover County NAACP said the march is a way to remind residents about the importance of voting in municipal elections
“I’m glad about those who came out and attended,” Montgomery said. “Usually in our municipal elections turn out is lower that is normal but we want to remind everyone to please vote in your municipal elections, this is very important just like our federal election.”
The march ended at First Baptist Missionary Church on Fifth Street for food and fellowship. Click here to find voting sites and schedules in New Hanover County.
