CFCC holds Financial Aid and FAFSA Night to assist students in signing up for help
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College held a Financial Aid and FAFSA Night to assist students in signing up for help.
FAFSA is a free application students can use to receive federal financial aid.
More than a dozen students got help from CFCC staff on Wednesday evening on how to fill up the form.
Money from FAFSA is set aside by the government years in advance, so students don’t need to worry about recent federal funding cuts ot the ongoing government shutdown affecting this situation.
Freshman Hadassah Rico said FAFSA has been an important part of the start of her college experience.
“The biggest part of going to college for like most, most high school students going to college is the money, where are we getting the money from,” Rico said. Me personally, I didn’t want to rely on my parents. They helped me with my FAFSA as well so it was a huge help to figure out that there was other ways that I can get money.”
If you are a student and need help, CFCC will hold two more Financial Aid and FAFSA Nights, one on Tuesday, November 4th and the other on November 18th.
