American Fish Company reopens a month after Southport mass shooting

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) —  If you’re looking to grab a good meal or a drink,  a place that’s special to the Southport community is finally back open after a terrible mass shooting.

The American Fish Company has confirmed with WWAY that the restaurant has reopened its doors for business.

The establishment had been closed since three people were killed and six others wounded by a gunman shooting from a boat on the dock on September 27.

American Fish Company says they will be open for the rest of the season — which usually runs until mid-December — Thursdays through Sundays. They plan to operate from noon until closing time (which is usually around 10) on weekends, while they will open at 2 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.

Multiple fundraisers and outpouring support from the community helped the business during its closure.
