Pumpkin drop-off returns to New Hanover County Arboretum for 7th year

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If you’re looking for a place to drop off your pumpkins from Halloween and keep them out of a landfill, the New Hanover County Arboretum can help.
You can compost your pumpkins at the arboretum through November 10th and again from December 1st through December 10th.
They remind people to check their pumpkins before dropping them off as they’re not accepting candles and plastic. Also, if the pumpkin is painted, they can only accept biodegradable paint.
This is the 7th annual pumpkin collection event where residents can turn their trash into a gardener’s treasure as the pumpkins will be broken down into compost.
