“Carolina Healthworks”, the new affordable plan for small business owners

Raleigh, NC (WWAY)– Small business owners across North Carolina may be getting a break when it comes to providing affordable health insurance for their employees. State Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced on Tuesday a new health insurance policy for small business owners.

The new plan called “Carolina HealthWorks“, is a partnership between the North Carolina Chamber and the North Carolina Blue Cross. Causey says the plan puts affordable high-quality health care within reach for small businesses, their employees, and the families who depend on them.

Fran Gary, with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, says it allows subscribers to take advantage of cost savings enjoyed by employers with a larger workforce.

“Small businesses are the backbone of North Carolina’s commerce. Yet, they face some of the steepest challenges when it comes affording health coverage for their teams. Carolina HealthWorks gives these businesses a new path for one that is affordable, sustainable, and built specifically for its needs”, says Gary.

This new plan is available as of November 1st.
