Brunswick County Schools: Law enforcement investigating collision involving bus

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County says says a vehicle crossed the center line and struck the front of a Brunswick County Schools bus on Nov. 6.

The district says it happened on US Highway 87 and South Shore Drive near Boiling Spring Lakes.

Based on preliminary information, the bus was traveling in its lane at the time the other vehicle entered its path. Any determinations about cause or responsibility will be made by law enforcement as their investigation continues.

At this time only minor bumps have been reported from students. Emergency medical personnel evaluated students as a precaution, and families of affected students have been notified.

The district will offer counseling and other support for any student or staff member who would like to speak with someone. School counselors and student services staff are available on
campus and by request

The district is cooperating fully with law enforcement. The crash remains under investigation.

Student privacy will be protected and information about individual students will not be released.
