Cape Fear Veterans Day events and discounts

CAPE FEAR, NC (WWAY) — If you are looking for some Veterans Day events in the area or discount deals here are some options.

Friday:

• Town of Wrightsville Beach and the Harbor Island Garden Club Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Wrightsville Beach Park at 11 a.m. 

Saturday:

• The annual southeastern NC Veterans Parade will kick off in Downtown Wilmington. The pre-show will start at 10 a.m. in front of Thalian Hall on North 3rd Street. The parade will start at 11 a.m. and travel from Hanover Street to Market Street showcasing military units, high school marching bands, veteran organizations, classic military vehicles and special honorees.
• The Cameron Art Museum will host their Veterans Celebration Community Day. All ages are invited, and the event is free.
• Veterans Day Fly-in and Car Show at Stag Air Park in Burgaw. Lunch served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Columbus County Veterans Celebration Parade at 11 a.m.

Tuesday:

• North Brunswick Veterans Day Event at Bellville Riverwalk Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Featuring food trucks, inflatables and live music
• Town of Burgaw annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Historic Burgaw Train Depot
• The Richard H. Stewart, Jr. American Legion Post 543 will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Homer E. Wright Event Center on Route 211 in St. James. Event starts at 11 a.m.
• New Hanover County Veterans Council Veterans Day Ceremony at Long Leaf Park at 11 a.m.
• CFCC Veterans Day Ceremony starting at 11 a.m.
• Columbus County Veterans Day Ceremony at the Columbus County Historic Courthouse at 11 a.m.
• Topsail Beach Wreath Laying Ceremony in the Town Center Park at 11 a.m.

Many places will be offering discounts for Veterans.

Sheetz will offer a free car wash to veterans and active-duty military on Tuesday. They’ll also offer a free half turkey sub and regular size fountain drink.

Circle K will offer veterans one free medium hot or iced coffee on Tuesday at participating locations with valid military ID.

The N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher will offer free admission to veterans and military families, tickets must be purchased online.

The North Carolina Zoo is offering free admission to military personnel, veterans, and their spouses for Saturday through Friday. This includes free admission for up to three additional accompanying guests. The deal is only available on-site and participants must show a valid military ID.

Participating Applebee’s restaurant locations will offer a free meal on Tuesday to Veterans and active-duty military.

Firehouse Subs will offer military and active-duty personnel can enjoy any size sub and receive a second sub for free with a valid ID.

On Tuesday at Carolina Ale House, Veterans can enjoy Half Rack Rib Platter.

Spend your Veterans Day at Chilli’s and receive a free meal.
