Salvation Army kicks off Angel Tree program at Independence Mall
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) – The Cape Fear Salvation Army kicked off their annual Angel Tree program on Friday at Independence Mall.
The Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for thousands of children around the country every year. Last year, the Salvation Army served over 2,000 children across the Cape Fear Region.
Connie Morris, a Salvation Army corps officer said they are seeing a greater need this year as families face a loss of federal government benefits and job layoffs.
“With the economy the way it is, everything is tight for everyone, but if people could just find it in their hearts to remember those that are less fortunate than you,” Morris said.
Anyone can visit the Angel Tree at Independence Mall and pick a child by age and gender to give an unwrapped toy for the holiday season. Click here to learn more about how to donate.
