Columbus Regional Healthcare System filed a certificate of need for Delco hospital

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Columbus Regional Healthcare System filed a certificate of need application with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to relocate 30 acute care beds and one operating room.
They want to transfer the beds and room from Columbus Regional Healthcare System to develop a new hospital in Delco, Columbus Regional East.
The project is expected to cost $214.7 million and would be completed in October 2029.
A public hearing for this project will be held on December 19th at 10:30 a.m. in the Columbus County Public Library meeting room located at 407 N. J.K. Powell Boulevard in Whiteville.
NCDHHS says anyone can file written comments regarding the proposal. Comments must be received by the Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section no later than 5 p.m. on December 1st.
