NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office announced they’re kicking off the 22nd annual ‘Make a Child Smile’ program.

The sheriff’s office says the program connects sponsors in the community with children in need to brighten their holiday season.

Community members can sponsor a child or multiple children. They’ll provide one new outfit, a pair of shoes, a coat, and three toys per child they sponsor.

In order to be a sponsor, you must email Lieutenant W.L. Montjoy at wmontjoy@nhcgov.com. In the email be sure to include your name, contact information and the number of children you want to sponsor. Also include if you want to sponsor a child who requested a bike. It is optional if you would like to request a gender.

Gifts can be dropped off at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Support Division or scheduled for pickup. The gift deadline is December 4th.
