WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An 18-year-old has been sentenced to 6 to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to firing multiple rounds of gunshots into a residence.

Prosecutors say on November 12th, Nasir Holliday pled guilty to discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Superior Court.

According to the DA’s office, deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office responded to Chair Road in response to multiple rounds being fired into a residence. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with two individuals who said they were inside the residence at the time of the shooting.

On the scene, deputies located 62 shell casings at the intersection of Dutton Road and Chair Road, all of which were 9mm. Investigators revealed that at least 26 of the 62 rounds fired struck the occupied residence and they believed three different weapons were used.

On February 4th, detectives determined Holliday, who was on probation, was at the intersection at the time of the shooting. A day later, the NHCSO served arrest warrants on Holliday and executed a search warrant.

Deputies located a Glock 19 handgun with a 50 round drum magazine. After further inspection, deputies found that the firearm was equipped with a machine gun conversion device which converted the gun from a semiautomatic to a fully automatic weapon.

According to the DA’s office, a fingerprint belonging to Holliday was located on the weapon. The weapon was also reported stolen out of New Hanover County.

Holliday has prior felony convictions for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm with an altered or removed serial number from September of 2024, for which he was on probation for at the time of this offense.
