Powerball jackpot rises to $629 million for Saturday’s drawing

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — The Powerball jackpot continues to grow and now stands at $629 million for Saturday’s drawing.

A Saturday night winner could claim the jackpot as a $629 million annuity or $294.5 million in cash.

“Saturday’s jackpot is the second largest in the Powerball game this year,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Powerball players have won five jackpots so far this year. We are hoping the sixth win occurs tonight in North Carolina.”

In Wednesday’s drawing, there were 19,407 winning tickets.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
