Robeson County student suspended after bringing gun to school

RED SPRINGS, NC (WWAY) — A Red Springs High School student will face a suspension after bringing a gun to school in Robeson County.
Required by state law, the 10th grader will face a 365-day suspension after a handgun was found in their possession on Tuesday.
The gun was discovered after students reported a handgun on campus to administration. A school resource officer conducted a search and found the weapon.
“We always encourage students and staff to report any activity that seems suspicious. We are grateful that no one was harmed and that the weapon was recovered by law enforcement,” said PSRC Chief Communications Officer Jessica Sealey.
