Dante Lombardi resigns as Ashley’s head football coach

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Dante Lombardi has announced his resignation as the head coach of the Ashley High School football program.
Lombardi offered a statement, saying in part, “I couldn’t be prouder of the growth of our program during my time here… Ashley football will always hold a special place in my heart.”
During his four seasons, Lombardi had a record of 21-25. Those 21 wins are the second most in program history. He also has the highest win-percentage for any Ashley football coach (.456).
Lombardi is the fourth area football coach to resign following the 2025 season and the third in the Carolina Coast Conference.
