Brunswick County man arrested in ATM armed robbery investigation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at an ATM that occurred earlier this week, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Law enforcement arrested Allen Jerome Smith Jr., 42, in the area of Floral Parkway and Oleander Drive around 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Police say Smith was identified as the suspect in the Monday armed robbery at the Bank of America at 502 S. College Road.

Smith was arrested in a parking lot near the PNC Bank. According to investigators, additional charges may be filed.

The arrest was part of a joint effort involving the Wilmington Police Department, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina SBI, ATF, and FBI.
