PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County is alerting residents of fire hydrant flushing over the next several weeks.

Pender EMS and Fire will conduct fire flow testing in Hampstead, Scott’s Hill, and Long Creek areas as they complete their annual inspections.

As crews open hydrants to flush to system and measure water flow residents may notice discolored or cloudy water, low water pressure, and short-terms changes in water clarity.

The county reminds people that if they experience discolored water, they recommend running the cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears.
