RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — With the holiday season in full swing and people traveling to see friends and family, RDU set a single-day record for passenger traffic the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

According to a press release, TSA screened more than 33,000 travelers on November 30th. For the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, traffic was up more than 3% with nearly 192,000 guests passing through security checkpoints from November 25th through December 1st.

“It is a pleasure to help bring families and friends together during the holiday season,” said Tammie Hall-Roberts, chair of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board. “We appreciate everyone who is making RDU part of their plans, and we wish them safe travels.”
