New Hanover County NAACP to host 2026 MLK Jr. Breakfast next month

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The NAACP New Hanover County will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast next month in downtown Wilmington.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center, located at 10 Convention Center Drive.

This year’s theme is “The Fierce Urgency of Now: Igniting the Future.”

The keynote speaker will be Bishop Valerie Melvin, regional minister of the North Carolina Christian Church.

Community awards will also be presented during the program. Tauheed Islamic Center Imam Abdul Shareef will receive the Minister of the Year award, while Grace United Methodist Church will be recognized as Church of the Year.
