New Hanover County shares holiday recycling guide

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County is reminding residents that as you’re enjoying the holiday festivities, you can recycle more than just live Christmas trees.

The county posted a “nice and naughty” holiday recycling guide to social media to help residents know which items can be recycled.

Items that can be recycled:

  • Gift wrap (non-metallic, no glitter or embellishments)
  • Cardboard or paper boxes
  • Paper gift bags (non-metallic, no glitter or embellishments)
  • Holiday cards & envelopes
  • Old gadgets & electronics
  • Natural Christmas trees & decor

Items that cannot be recycled:

  • String lights
  • Tinsel
  • Bubble wrap
  • Cellophane
  • Ribbons & bows
  • Foam packaging
