American Coalition for Ukraine reacts to upcoming meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he will meet with President Donald Trump Sunday in Florida.
Zelensky, who in a Christmas message told his nation it shares one dream, “peace in Ukraine”. Zelensky plans to discuss security guarantees as part of a 20-point peace plan with the President.
The announcement of the summit comes as Russia bombed an apartment in Kharkiv Ukraine. killing two people, and injuring eight, including a nine-month-old baby.
Kharkiv is near the Russian occupied territory Donbas, in eastern Ukraine.
For the first time, Zelensky is suggesting the creation of a demilitarized zone in the disputed area.
While the American Coalition for Ukraine’s, Aleksandr Krapivkin, is all for diplomacy, one thing is non-negotiable.
“Ask anybody from eastern Ukraine, you will get the same answer. Our borders must be restored. I am positive that whatever the government is working towards, Zelensky’s government in question, is going to reflect that. It’s not going to give up claim of territory. That will not happen”, said Krapivkin.
Krapivkin says for a demilitarized zone to truly work, both sides need to pull back, especially the Russians, who’ve pushed deep into Donbas.
