Wilmington Police investigate deadly shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a deadly shooting, the city’s first homicide of 2026.

Police said it happened around 8:06 a.m. in the 2600 block of Constitution Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center where they later died.

Investigators said the suspect and the victim knew each other; however, no arrests have been made at this time.

WPD said this in an active, ongoing investigation.
