NEW DETAILS: Leland Police identify person killed in early morning shooting

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Police have identified the person killed in an early morning shooting that injured two others.

According to the Town of Leland, officers responded around 3:30 a.m. on Friday to a home in the 100 block of Dixie Drive, located behind the Piggly Wiggly.

They found three people shot. Dylan Charles Hennessey, 35, died at the scene. Two others, including the shooter, were treated for their injuries at Novant Health NHRMC.

At this time, no charges have been filed. Leland Police are working closely with the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Police say the incident appears to be domestic related. More information will be released as it becomes available.
