Aquarium experience coming to Independence Mall, NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher says

FORT FISHER, NC (WWAY) — The community can look forward to an aquarium experience at Independence Mall in Wilmington.

The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher announced that construction will begin on the mall experience, Discover Cove, on Monday, January 12th.

The 8,000-square-foot mini-aquarium will feature animal encounters, marine life habitats, environmental education programs, and a gift shop where members will still receive their discount.

“Our Aquarium lovers, students, teachers and everyone in the community can stay connected with us through this mall location,” said Joanna Zazzali, NCAFF director. “We value our connections to the community created through education programs, animal encounters and other experiences that enhance opportunities for everyone to join us in conservation action.”

Discovery Cove is being built in the JCPenney Wing, on the Independence Boulevard side of the mall, between Belk and JCPenney.

Construction of Discover Cover is expected to take eight weeks. Opening day has yet to be announced by NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher says it is several months away.
