Fire at Brunswick County Government Center leaves ambulance totaled

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday, fire crews responded to a structure fire at the Brunswick County Government Center in Bolivia.
The fire occurred around 11:28 p.m. affecting building C. When crews arrived, they discovered heavy smoke from the garage of the building where an ambulance with an active fire was parked inside.
Firefighters suppressed the fire before the fire could spread.
No injuries were reported.
One ambulance was totaled as a result of the fire. In a press release, it was noted that this was not one of the newest ambulances that entered the fleet in the Fall of 2025. Three different ambulances and two quick response vehicles were inside the garage at the time but no damages to them have been reported.
Physical damages to the building are limited to the area surrounding the affected ambulance bay. The overall building, including the garage, are considered structurally sound.
Staff and a restoration contractor will be on site this week to prepare for cleanup and conduct any additional inspections needed.
In a press release, the county said, “Brunswick County EMS wants to assure the public that this incident will not hinder the County’s ability to provide effective and quick emergency medical services.”
Multiple agencies responded including the Bolivia Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Stations 4, 6, 13, 18, 37, law enforcement, and EMS.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
