WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Despite suffering their first conference loss in five years during their last game, New Hanover boys basketball bounced back to knock off Laney on the road 72-62 on Tuesday.

The win now creates a three-way tie atop the Carolina Coast standings with the Bucs and Hoggard.

“It means a lot,” junior Dylan Fortun said. “Especially coming from my old school, I used to play here last year. It was personal. It meant a lot to come out and win. It shows that we’re still a top team in the conference. We’ll come out and play as hard as possible every single night and just do our best. We’re playing as a team now. We can be the best.”

Kellum Brown led the Wildcats with 24 points while Ny’Zion Ballard added another 21. Logan Schumacher led Laney with 20 points.
