Armed robbery suspect arrested and facing multiple charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Following an investigation, the Wilmington Police Department has made an arrest in the connection to an armed robbery from Sunday afternoon.

Around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, officers found 36-year-old Ronald Barry Hill Jr. of Zebulon near Rutledge Drive and Morgan Street.

Hill initially attempted to get away but officers were able to quickly arrest him without further incident.

Around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, WPD responded to the Scotchman store at 2902 Carolina Beach Road for the report of an armed robbery. Police say, the suspect entered the store, brandished a metal object, assaulted an employee leaving them with minor injuries, and got away with cash and other stolen merchandise.

Hill is facing several charges, including malicious conduct by prisoner, possession of drug paraphernalia, resist delay/obstruct public officers, and larceny.

He is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
