2026 WWAY Health Fair: Tips for screening and preventing colorectal cancer

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Dr. Whiyie A. Sang, a general surgeon specializing in colon and rectal surgery, spoke with WWAY ahead of the 2026 WWAY Health Fair on Jan. 29.

In the interview, Dr. Sang addressed rising colorectal cancer rates among younger adults, early warning signs and symptoms, and the importance of screenings starting at age 45. He also discussed how diet, lifestyle, and family history can impact risk, and offered guidance for patients who may be hesitant about undergoing screening.
