Family Dollar employee arrested after allegedly embezzling over $4,500

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A Whiteville woman was arrested after allegedly stealing over $4,500 from her employer.

Court documents say, the Whiteville Police Department arrested 30-year-old Michaelia Williams who allegedly added money onto a Chime Card while working at Family Dollar without paying for it.

Williams added money onto the card multiple times adding up to a total of $4,548.01.

Williams was arrested on January 21 and charged with 14 counts of larceny by employee and one count of embezzlement.

According to court documents, Williams posted her $50,000 bond the same day she was arrested.
