Town of Leland looking at possible changes to its zoning and subdivision ordinances
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Rapid growth in Leland is forcing town leaders to take a closer look at their zoning ordinances.
The town planning board met Tuesday evening, where a presentation was given about a project to update the town’s land development regulations.
As part of the Leland 2045 land use plan, the town wants to update and clarify its zoning and subdivision ordinances.
This project will take about 14 months, which town planning and inspections director Ben Andrea said will give residents plenty of time to learn about what possible changes could be made.
“With it going to the planning board and town council, that gives the public an opportunity to learn about what the changes are and it gives the town an opportunity to talk about how those changes may affect an individual property owner in some regard,” Andrea said. “We want, we always want to be aware of that and try to minimize impact to the existing property owners.”
Each month, an update on the project will be given to the planning board and town council.
