Wilmington Fire Department hiring engineers and lieutenants

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department is accepting applications for Fire Engineer and Fire Lieutenant positions.
Both positions play a key role in protecting lives and property throughout the City of Wilmington.
The Wilmington Fire Department says that engineers are responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and response readiness of fire apparatus. Whereas lieutenants provide frontline leadership by supervising personnel, managing fireground operations during emergencies, and ensuring operational accountability through reports and administrative oversight.
“These positions are essential to maintaining safe, effective emergency operations while preparing the next generation of fire service leaders within the Wilmington Fire Department,” said Derek Mickler, Chief of Operations. “It is critical that the department invests in professionals who can meet increasing demands and evolving risks in the community.”
Employment of either position requires prior fire service experience as well as knowing they operate on a 24-hour shift schedule.
There will be a virtual informational session for the engineer position on February 2 and for the lieutenant position on February 3.
