Reminders on what to do if you encounter a cold stunned sea turtle

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center is reminding people of important tips if they see a cold stunned sea turtle.

The rescue asks people not to put the turtle back in the water. Also, do no try to warm up the turtle on your own.

If you encounter a cold stunned sea turtle it is important to call your local sea turtle rescue group.

In the Topsail and Surf City area you can call The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center at 910-329-0222 option 3.

Elsewhere in the state you can call the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission sea turtle hotline at 252-241-7367.
