Oak Island provides update ahead of winter storm
OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Oak Island released an update regarding the approaching winter storm.
The town says they have been in contact with NCDOT to request plowing services for both the G.V. Barbee Sr. Bridge and the Swain’s Cut Bridge along with Oak Island Drive and Beach Drive.
NCDOT will service them as soon as possible even though they’re not first-tier response routes.
On Sunday, the Oak Island Pier will be closed, and the Oak Island Par 3 Golf course will also be closed.
The town says currently there are no street or bridge closures. The storm response information page will be updated with any cancellations.
Residents are asked to complete final preparations Friday if not done so already.
