17-year-old in Bladen County arrested after woman reports gunshot wound

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office says a juvenile was arrested after a report of a gunshot wound.

The sheriff’s office says on Monday around 1:30 p.m. a woman called stating she was shot.

When deputies and detectives responded to the 1100 block of Moultrie Lane in Elizabethtown, they found a 62-year-old female, referred to as “Ms. Williams,” suffering from a gunshot wound to her back.

She was taken to the hospital and treated then released.

Through further investigation, it was found that the incident began from a physical fight between two juvenile females. The fight escalated and weapons were involved according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the sheriff’s office, Williams was in her own home at the time of the incident and was not involved in the altercation between the two juveniles.

The 17-year-old female was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling.

She was transported to the Juvenile Detention Cetner in Fayetteville.
