UNCW to host “Coast to Coast Dance Convention” this weekend

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Some of the biggest names in dance are making their way to Wilmington this weekend.

The “Coast to Coast Dance Convention” will take place at UNCW this Saturday and Sunday. It is open to those ages five and up.

Among those who will be part of the event are Abby Lee Miller, featured on the television show “Dance Moms” and colleague Gianna Martello. All involved will teach various forms of dance ranging from hip hop to ballet.

WWAY spoke with director Derek Capps, who has been involved in productions all over the world such as “The Lion King” at Walt Disney World in Florida. He says planning the event took a lot of work as the guests are still on tour just days out from the start of the convention.
