Social media complaint raises concern for Novant Health cleanliness; Novant responds

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) – Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center responded to a complaint posted on social media which alleged the conditions at one of its facilities for patients was deplorable.

Adam Rodriguez made the complaint advocating for his father receiving treatment at the facilities.

Rodriguez posted on Facebook on Tuesday showing photos of dirty floors, bed mattresses, rusted food trays and dusty vents. He said one day after posting this on Facebook, Novant immediately responded and replaced the entire bed, food trays and vents with a new cover.

Rodriquez said it’s important to stick for the little guy and is grateful for how fast Novant acted.

“I’m not here to talk smack about them, it’s just to keep everyone accountable, keep this snowball effect rolling and keep things going in the right direction,” Rodriquez said.

Novant shared a statement with WWAY stating:
“Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness is non-negotiable, and we took immediate measures to address concerns that were identified. We just finalized a thorough vetting process and have engaged a new vendor to overhaul and manage our cleaning and environmental services program. As we prepare for this transition on March 1, our leadership team has implemented additional rounding and oversight measures to ensure our standards are met. We are confident that our new partner will deliver results to meet the level of service our community deserves and we are committed to upholding. We always encourage patients and family members to share any concerns directly with the care team for prompt attention and resolution.”
