WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — If any team was going to be a thorn in the side of UNCW men’s basketball, William & Mary showed they might be that after handing the Seahawks an 85-78 home loss on Thursday.

The Tribe also beat Wilmington two weeks ago by the same margin of victory.

All seemed well for UNCW at first with the first 15 points they scored coming from behind the arc. Nolan Hodge hit three of those five shots.

The visitors however ate into that early lead before propelling away after solving the puzzle that is UNCW once again.

“We just didn’t have enough fight in either game,” Head Coach Takayo Siddle said. “They’re a tough team to guard because the floor is tilted all the time when you play them. They’re coming downhill at you all the time. Then when you get to the half court, they’re just chopping you up with all their movement. On the defensive end, they flush everything to the baseline.”

The Seahawks head to Rival Charleston on Monday with first place in the CAA on the line.
