Love is in the air at New Hanover County Register of Deeds

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, love was in the air at the New Hanover County Register of Deeds.

Instead of the usual business and paperwork the Register of Deeds office was filled with wedding music, heart-themed decorations, and couples ready to start their next chapter together and the best part, it was all free. The register of deeds hosted ceremonies for eight different couples today. Lisa and John originally planned to stop by for legal paperwork, but their plans changed and they ended up saying “I do.”

“We’re just coming to the courthouse to get legally married then we found out about this…and they talked us into it…Absolutely loved it, got to show up and not worry about anything,” said Lisa.

Congratulations to Lisa and John!

The couple says they’ll be going to Costa Rica next week for another wedding celebration. They say they’re excited to spend the rest of their lives together, along with their two dogs.
