Testimony continues in case against Pender County Clerk

PENDER COUNTY (WWAY) — More witnesses took the stand Thursday in the trial of current Pender County Clerk of Court, Elizabeth Craver.

Prosecutors called Anthony Sampogna, a special agent with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, who served as the case agent.

Prosecutors handed Sampogna a computer flash drive they say contained video taken by surveillance cameras of Craver taking chairs from her car and rolling them into the courthouse.

This occurred the same day agents seized Craver’s laptop computer, which she claims was used to research cases.

Carver is charged with obtaining property by false pretense, and testimony resumes Friday.
