Bladen school board to hold public hearing on possible East Arcadia closure

RIEGELWOOD, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Board of Education will hold a third public hearing Monday regarding the potential closure of East Arcadia School and its consolidation with Clarkton School of Discovery.

The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 2 in the cafeteria at East Arcadia School, located at 21451 N.C. Highway East in Riegelwood.

School officials said the purpose of the public hearing is to gather information and hear opinions from the community. Board members generally will respond only to seek clarification.

The usual 30-minute total limit for public comment will not apply. The hearing will end once everyone who has signed up to speak has been given the opportunity.

Each speaker will be limited to three minutes.
