South Brunswick knocks off Hoggard 9-4

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — In a battle of former conference rivals, South Brunswick softball picked up a road win over Hoggard 9-4 on Monday.
The game was tied at one in the 4th inning before the Vikings knocked in three, the latter coming off a fly ball to left off the bat of Sophie Gee.
That was followed by the Cougars plating at least two in every frame the rest of the way, with a fielder’s choice by Gracin Johnson bringing home Lacie Britt proving to be the winning run.
“I think that us working as a team, talking each other up, really getting our bats going and using the momentum that we really do have led us to our full potential in that game,” Johnson said. “It’s pretty nice, especially being a senior. It’s my first game back and it felt good, especially to put nine runs against Hoggard.”
