Police identify man killed in Wilmington shooting on Marstellar Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police say a man who was shot late Tuesday night has died.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the victim has been identified as 42-year-old Daryl Scott. Officers discovered Scott while searching the area near the 700 block of Marstellar Street after reports of gunfire around 10:30 p.m.

Police say an officer in the area heard multiple shots and believed they were coming from near 5th Avenue.

A ShotSpotter alert then directed officers to the 700 block of Marstellar Street, where they located evidence related to the shooting.

During a search of the area, officers found Scott suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.

The department’s K9 unit attempted to track from the scene.

Police say the case is being investigated as a homicide.
