Brunswick County man arrested on multiple child sex crime charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man has been arrested in connection with an ongoing child sexual assault investigation.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, their Special Victims Unit arrested 51-year-old Daniel Neal Long of Old Ferry Connection SW late Tuesday night.

Long is charged with five counts of statutory rape of a child by an adult and five counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say Long is currently being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
