DeHart nets school-record five goals as North Brunswick beats WCA 7-1

LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) — Wilmington Christian Academy girls soccer may be coming off a state championship, but North Brunswick didn’t care as the Scorpions picked up the home win 7-1 on Thursday.
Sophomore Ali DeHart had a night to remember. After scoring the first goal of the game around the eight minute mark, she then completed a hat trick 70 seconds later. Those came in increments of 43 and 27 seconds respectively. DeHart would score two more in the second half to set a new program record with five goals in a single match. The last of which came with ten seconds remaining.
“I really wanted it,” DeHart said. “That was my goal for this game. I was really, really happy. I was super excited and really happy for my team too. It really meant a lot to me that I have this family.”
The other Scorpion tallies came from Vanna Gurkin and Gracelynn Bruno while the Patriots got their lone goal off a penalty kick from Kayli Altobello-Clark.
