Two children dead after Brunswick County structure fire

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WWAY) — At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Mar.12, 2026, the Northwest Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department responded to a structure fire.

There are two confirmed fatalities at this time, both are children. There are three other people with burns being transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, before potentially being moved to a burn treatment center.

The department arrived on scene within minutes along with multiple other departments, including Leland Fire Department, Winnabow Fire Department, and Acme-Delco Riegelwood Fire Rescue. At approximately 6:15 a.m. the fire was placed under control.

“At this time, we ask our loyal community to keep the families of those lost this morning in your prayers.” NWVFR said in a Facebook post.
