WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — The success of Raise the Ruff Casino Night 2026 has further solidified the event as a cornerstone of community support for Paws Place Dog Rescue.

Hosted at Hotel Ballast in Downtown Wilmington, this year’s fundraiser brought together nearly 300 guests for evening of fun, generosity, and compassion—raising just over $91,000 to support the shelter’s mission of providing care, shelter, and medical attention to homeless dogs.

PMG Carolinas served as the event’s presenting sponsor, helping make the night possible. Guests enjoyed casino-style gaming, a silent auction featuring more than 95 items, delicious food and drinks, and a raffle for an exquisite ruby and diamond ring.

The festivities also included a best-dressed contest, game night winners, and plenty of opportunities for guests to celebrate their shared love for rescue dogs.

The event was hosted by actor and animal advocate Trevor Donovan, joined by members of his dedicated DonoFans community, whose enthusiasm and support helped make the night even more special.

“The Wilmington community continues to show incredible support for our mission. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who attended and helped make this night such a success.” said Lee VanOrmer, President of the Board of Directors for Paws Place Dog Rescue.

Beyond the casino tables and auction excitement, the true impact of Raise the Ruff Casino Night lies in what it means for the dogs. Funds raised from the evening help provide food, medical care, shelter, and rehabilitation for dogs in need—giving them a safe place to land while they wait for their forever homes.
