Death investigation underway in Hubert

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of two deceased individuals at a residence in Hubert.

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, at approximately 11:17 a.m., deputies responded to the 200 block of Cambridge Street in reference to a reported death. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Onslow County Fire and Rescue personnel, who had already entered the residence and discovered two individuals deceased inside a back bedroom.

The deceased have been identified as Carman Burns, 50, and Terry Clyde Murphy, 60. The couple was in a domestic relationship, and the Sheriff’s Office had not had any previous encounter with the couple prior to the incident.

This is an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public. The incident remains under investigation as deputies await the autopsy results. No additional details are being released at this time.
