UNC Men’s Basketball fired head coach Hubert Davis

CHAPEL HILL, NC (WWAY) — Hubert Davis is out as UNC Men’s Basketball’s head coach.

The decision came to a head Tuesday night after Davis spent the past 5 years serving as the Tar Heels’ head coach.

The announcement comes after UNC lost a 19-point lead against VCU, the largest blown lead ever in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Now, UNC is expected to go outside of the Tar Heel family for it’s next head coach, for the first time in more than 70 years.

Sources say the school will pay out the remaining money on Davis’ contract.

Davis finished with a final record of 125-54.
