Wedemeyer homers twice, Laney handles Hoggard 7-0

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Bitter rivals met on the baseball diamond Tuesday, but it was visiting Laney heading home with a 7-0 win over Hoggard.

The Bucs got a pair of solo home runs from outfielder Carston Wedemeyer and led 4-0 entering the 5th. Mason Nance drove in a pair after that while Owen Gore hit a dinger of his own.

“It feels great,” Wedemeyer said. “Our pitchers came out here, they pitched their butts off. They really did, both of them. All seven innings. Today was really a great team win. I went in the cage, got my swings in. Everything felt great. I went out there looking for a fastball and that’s what I got.”
