WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — It didn’t look like it would be the case, but UNCW baseball managed to scrape out a 5-3 home win on Friday against William & Mary.

The Tribe took a 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning and carried it to the 7th. Trevor Lucas’ RBI double managed to get the Seahawks on the board.

Matous Bubenik then recorded a sac fly to pull the home side within one. Following an infield single to load the bases, J.P. Pannella knocked a hit the same way to tie the game. Kevin Jones drew a bases loaded walk to take the lead. UNCW then got another for the insurance run.

“As soon as we got runners on, it put a lot of pressure on the defense,” Pannella said. “We were able to keep rolling. Passing the baton is a big thing for our team. It’s not always that one big hit that’ll win us the game. It’s a bunch of little hits.”
