Legendary rock act Tommy James and the Shondells to perform at CFCC’s Wilson Center

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center has announced that iconic rock group Tommy James and the Shondells will take the stage on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 7 p.m.
Led by Tommy James, the band remains a major force in American rock music more than five decades after its rise to fame. James has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and continues to tour regularly, earning recognition as one of the most air-played and widely covered artists in the industry.
The group is best known for a string of Top 40 hits, including “Crimson and Clover,” “Mony Mony,” “Hanky Panky,” “I Think We’re Alone Now,” and “Draggin’ the Line.” His music has also been featured in dozens of films, television shows, and commercials, further cementing his cultural impact.
James’ influence spans generations and genres. Songs from his catalog have been covered by major artists including Prince, Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M., and Dolly Parton. In the 1980s, his hits found new life on the charts through covers by Tiffany and Billy Idol.
Formed in Niles, Michigan in 1964, the band evolved from its early rock roots into a pioneering force in psychedelic music, highlighted by the release of the landmark Crimson and Clover album.
Beyond touring, James continues to connect with fans through his SiriusXM radio show, Gettin’ Together with Tommy James. His bestselling autobiography, Me, The Mob and the Music, has earned a spot on Rolling Stone’s Top 25 Best Music Memoirs list and is currently being adapted for both a feature film and a Broadway production.
